A Thousand Years

The mister is coming back tomorrow! *throws confetti* Can’t pick him up from the airport coz I have to work but he’ll have Hessa all to himself for a few hours. Her fever seems to be going down, just in time for her papa’s return. Can’t believe I survived such an exhausting week. Seriously. Mum and I were like zombies.

Performing in school…

Decided on the song I wanted.
If the ukulele doesn’t work out,
I’m getting my audience to clap a 2-1 rhythm
while I sing.

And the song is…

If you were falling, then I would catch you.
You need a light, I’d find a match.

Cause I love the way you say good morning.
And you take me the way I am.

If you are chilly, here take my sweater.
Your head is aching, I’ll make it better.

Cause I love the way you call me baby.
And you take me the way I am.

I’d buy you Rogaine when you start losing all your hair.
Sew on patches to all you tear.

Cause I love you more than I could ever promise.
And you take me the way I am.
You take me the way I am.
You take me the way I am.
(Ingrid Michaelson’s The Way I Am)

Short and sweet.
Hooray!

On another note, I guess all those concerts that
artists hold really use
a LOT of energy.
Sang and danced for the kids
for today’s mass music assembly.
I could tell I was getting a bit winded
nearing the end of the song,
not that anyone else noticed, I think.
Best part?
We sang TWICE.

I’d better be losing weight/calories while
enetertaining these kids man…

Who knew?

Settled a bit of marking and managed to practise my song for recess interlude. Multi-tasking. The busiest weeks ever are coming up. Plus my school has this tradition of getting musical performances for their break. Music teacher, music, my boss put my name down for a few slots. Ack!

So I like the groove of P!nk’s ‘Who Knew’. (And no bad words! Woohoo!) Got the instrumental version but actually wanna try a guitar/ukulele version. Well, we’ll see if that works out. One song down.

Still contemplating on the other song. Ergh. Need to lock myself up in the music room and let my vocals loose. Nothing too sad or slow or too many bad words, performing to kids remember! Any ideas? I’m kinda stumped… Or price tag? Pffffttt.

Oh. Oh! I really miss the acoustic set up 2 years back. Adli and Asrin really pushed me to give my best and not hold back. I tend to do that. Think I’m scared I might be shouting into the mic instead of singing. But it was fun. Really lots of fun. And performing it to a crowd was… A thrill. Can we do it again, Syafrein?
